Scope: GLOW, an international competition for an artistic lighting scheme for Copley Square sponsored by Lighting Boston and SHIFTBoston. There were over 60 entries and the panel included Paul Zephariou of LAM Partners; Profession Nader Tehrani Head of the MIT School of Architecture and Planning and Brian Healy, Director of Design, perkins and Will.
Winner: The Canadian architectural firm, Khoury Levit Fong won GLOW with their design called Crystal Sun, a dew shaped globe hanging from a funicular mesh support, each intersection hung with a wick like row of low-energy addressable LEDS.
Runners Up: Raluca Buzdugan, Principal of Vlad Simionescu & Associati Architecti from Rucharest Romania and team members Jessica Colangelo, Charles Sharpless, David Alf and Sara Schonour from Cambridge, MA.
